A Sneak Preview of Vinehart Farm

“Eva turned on the light in the hall landing, and then turned the light on in her room. Then she went back to turn the hall light off. She was having trouble with the darkness, and there was no place in the landing to plug in a night light. Her room was under the eaves, and her window fit diagonally into the wall. She could see the stars once she lay in bed. Her floor was cold without the rug. That’s why her parents had covered all the floors, to add another layer of insulation to a drafty house. Eva waited for the magnesium she took to warm and calm her. It was an expensive addition to her grocery bill, but it was worth it. She could bear anything with a good night’s sleep.”

This is an excerpt from Vinehart Farm. Eva is a likeable character with spunk, courage, and immense sadness. So far her story has been easy to write, and now that I am done my Master’s in Library and Information Science courses for spring, I have more time to dedicate to writing. Imagine being able to write and support yourself for a living. That’s my dream. Here are potential locations for author and signing talks. There may be a few more, and some of these may not pan out, but many should, thanks to the good work of Curiosity Quills. I have some time before I go into work, so I’m diving back into Eva’s world. Thanks for following me.
